Michael Lavery: Vocals & guitars

Micky founded groovetrain in late 2012 after spells as a guitarist and frontman with rock bands Molotov Dragons and, back in 2002, with Thing Called Love, from which his 'MickyLuv' stage alias was born. Micky has performed as a solo acoustic artist at theatres, arts centres, festivals and live on the radio, picking up support slots for acts including The Alarm and Southern-Rock legends Blackfoot - as well as finding himself jamming with the late Deep Purple legend Jon Lord and Oscar-winning A-lister Russell Crowe.

John Dawson: Bass

A 40-year career has seen John perform live across the UK, Europe and the US and as an in-demand session musician; touring and recording with CRS award-winning Prog rock band DeeExpus (album The King of Number 33) and the Russ Tippins Electric Band (critically-acclaimed albums Electrickery and Combustion), supporting acts including Robert Plant and Big Country, and with theatre credits including productions of We Will Rock You, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rent and Footloose . A finalist in two successive years as best bass player in the British Blues & Soul Awards, John is at home playing all genres and styles and is currently demonstrating his versatility working with songwriters JustSO and The Steve Thompson Band.

John is an original member of groovetrain and an endorsee artist for Spector Bass Guitars and Hartke Amplification

Ian Halford: Drums & vocals

Ian is a gifted session musician and teacher, performing extensively as a professional drummer, percussionist and singer for over 30 years with a wide range of touring acts includingThe Russ Tippins Electric Band. He has played at venues and festivals across the UK and Europe and was also nominated in the British Blues & Soul Awards. High profile gigs have included support-slots with Rory GallagherJools Holland and Boney M.

Mitch Laddie: Guitars & vocals

Mentored as a prodigious young guitarist by Blues guitar legend Walter Trout, Mitch is an incredible player and songwriter with awesome chops inspired by the likes of Hendrix, Robben Ford and Prince. He has led his own band - The Mitch Laddie Trio - through 5 critically-acclaimed albums and international tours and radio play - as well as playing at venues including The Royal Albert Hall and Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Mitch is an endorsee artist for Mesa Boogie amps, Dunlop pedals and D'Addario strings

James Peacock: Keys & vocals

Classically trained, James is a superb jazz-fusion pianist, guitarist and songwriter with huge recording and touring experience with bands including the Voices of Virtue Gospel Choirmamacoca, Nick Pride & The Pimptones and R.J. Thompson. He has shared the bill with diverse acts from Joss Stone to Buddy Guy and performed at the likes of The Royal Albert Hall, 02 Arena London, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, and at European Rhythm and Blues Festivals, as well as achieving airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, and SKY One.

Angela Newbrook: Vocals

Soulful singer and TV presenter Angela is an experienced performer on stage and screen, bringing powerful vocals and great musicality to every performance from jazz clubs to theatres to festivals with acts including Shake Your Tail Feather and Lorraine Crosby.

Johnny Davis: Saxophone

Johnny 'Blue Hat' Davis is mentored by Lou Marini of Blues Brothers fame and has extensive international touring and recording experience featuring with BRIT Award winner and UK #1 album artist Sam Fender, UK poprock star Danny Jones (McFly), Tower of Power's Tom Bowes, The Who's Roger Daltrey, the original Blues Brothers Band, The Cadillacs, and Lulu James. With Sam Fender, Johnny has played on national TV and radio, with Elton John at his 2020 Oscars party in Hollywood, at Hyde Park in London and BBC Radio One Big Weekend, and on sellout UK and US tours. Johnny has played at festivals, theatres and arenas across the world including the the world-famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.
